Part:BBa_I15009

Designed by: Jeff Tabor   Group: iGEM04_UTAustin   (2004-09-20)

phycocyanobilin:ferredoxin oxidoreductase (PcyA) from synechocystis

Second of two required phycocyanobilin biosynthetic genes.

Usage and Biology

Converts biliverdin IXalpha (BV)(produced by Part:BBa_I15008) to phycocyanobilin (PCB), the immediate precursor of cyanobacterial phytochromes. Associates with Part:BBa_I15010 to transduce a light signal into a genetic response.

The sequence from BBa_I15009 was taken by St Andrews iGEM 2020 and subject to the IDT codon optimisation tool. During optimisation, no illegal restriction sites were created allowing for the part to be used at RFC[10] and RFC[1000] standard (BBa_K3634008).
